Navigating Kiwi Culture out of a Traditional Pasifika world

Mareta born and raised in Hamilton by her awesome Cook Islands parents, Ere Ford and the late George Ford meant life at home wasnt your typical Kiwi home. Mareta grew up in a community of mostly Europeans and NZ Maori, but living in a very traditional Cook Islands home. Mareta learnt very quickly that life outside her home, had different rules, values and life was not the same as in her home.
In this workshop she will explore identifying barriers that non-kiwis face living in NZ and how to best work with young people battling with church/family traditions and making sense of these.
