Do we have to worship God with singing?

Time: 12:00 Saturday
Where: Redwood Upstairs
Style: Interactive Workshop

Isn’t it annoying that we get made to sing “worship” songs, or on the flip side isn’t it annoying worship leading and seeing people waiting for you to finish? Do we even know why we should or shouldn’t have songs in church? This workshop is going to answer these questions for both sides by answering the very complex WHY of worship – and how it’s gotten from biblical then, to Bethel now.

In this little letter tucked away at the back of the New Testament we encounter four characters that can teach us a lot about what it means to be a Christian, what it means to be involved in God’s mission, and what it means to be a leader.  The whole letter is only 15 verses, and yet it’s packed with insights.

Basics of Biblical Interpretation

Time: 12:00 Saturday
Where: Elm Hall
Style: Interactive Workshop
tiny-sizw-ctCore Topic: Emerging

The interpretation of Scripture is a dynamic process because Christians approach the bible from different perspectives and contexts. These processes influence how we read, think about and make sense of Scripture. In this workshop, we will look at some useful tools of exegesis which seek to discover the ‘world behind the text’. We will also look at eisegesis which is a ‘reader centred interpretation’. With an understanding of both methods of biblical interpretation, we will collaborate on appropriate methods of interpretation for various areas of the teaching and preaching ministry.
